Sisterlocks Retightening

I treated myself to a professional touch-up.  I normally do my own hair but every now and then I visit Dr. Monique Hunt.  Monique did not install my Sisterlocks but periodically reviews my work to make sure that I'm keeping my hair healthy.   She also has a mane of gorgeous Sisterlocks.  If you want to know more about Dr Monique visit her website:  http://www.moniquehunt.com











Here are a few pictures of my retightening session.  I have hundreds of tiny locks that have to be individually retightened every six to eight weeks.  It typically takes me 3 days to do the job if I take my time.  If I'm in a hurry I can do it in a day and a half.  Monique retightened my hair in about 2.5 hours.  It seemed a lot shorter since we were chatting it up the whole time.  Now folks, let me tell you that my hair will "never" look like Monique's.  We have totally a totally different hair texture, thickness, and density.  That's the beauty of Sisterlocks - no two heads of hair are alike.   My hair is fine, thin, and tightly coiled.  However, my sisterlocks are stunning if you want my opinion.  I look totally tired in these pictures - I was preparing for the family to visit for Xmas and Riley's surgery.

Hey Everybody,

On November 14, 2009 I posted that I would have something to share with you two weeks from that date. Well I'm a bit late but late is better than never.

I quit my job with a fortune 10 high tech employer after 12 years of employment. I have a better job with a new employer....a promotion...a corner office...and a 15 minute commute to work. I start my new job the day after Dr. King's birthday.  

I did not seek out this job....it came to me...literally!  I was simply open and willing to explore the possibility.  I give thanks for the blessings that I have received.  I'll leave you with my theme Song by Ledisi.  I love this song.

Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone had a spectular holiday and that your celebrations were merry.  I had visitors from mid-October toThanksgiving through Christmas and it was so nice to be surrounded by family.  We treat our guests quite nicely so as you can imagine Chateau JaVe is a popular spot.   Family and friends love to come and we love to have them.  Nobody is homeless or nothing like that. Even if they were we'd give them food and shelter until they did something dumb like drink the last Pepsi or polish off the last glass of juice and lie about it.

October cousin Archie visited.  He's so cute and expecting his first baby next month.

Thanksgiving Ms J - Chef's mom came to visit.  His sister Joy, brother Leon, his wife and daughter also hung with us.

Christmas Mom, Mimi, and Ryan stayed for a few days.  Ryan's girlfriend and college buddies also stopped by.  Everybody had a good time except for Riley and me.  He had knee surgery and I had to carry him up and down the stair to use the bathroom all day and all night.  He spent most of the holiday sedated and on pain medications.  I sedated myself with wine.
